Photo Friday – Orange

orange on grey

My submission for Photo Friday’s Orange theme.

I spotted this orange grate on the side of Craigdarroch Castle when I was shooting there recently. Mostly everything about the castle was grey, but this really stood out for me.

PhotoFriday – Action

action shot

This shot turned out pretty much how I was trying to get it to. This racer was the lead male, and on the first lap had a commanding lead. This shot was taken during his second lap while descending a small hill. I panned as best I could from the same trail, but around the corner a little.

Photo Friday Extra – Analog

Fort Rodd Hill railing

This is my Submission for Photo Friday’s Extra challenge.

I took this shot a while ago (Jan 10, 2004), but I still really like it. This railing is located at the Fort Rodd Hill park.

Here are more pics from the day.

Photo Friday – Neglect

old and rusting fire truck
My submission for the PhotoFriday theme of Neglect.

I found this firetruck tucked away in a small lane during my stay at Point No Point Resort in Sooke BC. I love the above picture. The colors came across very well. I love the composition of the below picture (one of the trucks wheels), but the colors aren’t as true as I would like them.

Structure – Market Square

raising the roof

My Photo Friday submission for structure. This was taken in Market Square, Victoria, B.C. The people below were hacking, the sun was setting, and the rafters were quite dark. It was a difficult shot, and this wasn’t my first attempt. This one turned out well though.

Neighborhood – Westbank, BC

Neighborhood

I was visiting a friends’ parents in Westbank, and this was a scene I came across. It is a gated community for retired folk. I titled this shot: “Heaven or Hell”. The people that live here have formed a wonderful community, but I can’t help but think this isn’t where I want to live.

Mechanism – Johnson St Bridge

mechanism

I took this picture one day while downtown. It was the first time I got to see the bridge open up. I have lived in Victoria for several years, so I was quite surprised to see it opened in two seperate pieces. I still think this looks like a giant abstract pair of scissors.
