Inspiring Best
Yesterday was the Royal Victoria Marathon. Suede and a few of our friends ran the half marathon, which, in my opinion, is still a great accomplishment. I managed to see everyone that I knew was running the race while they were on course. I always find it amazing how many people take part in these events. It is pretty amazing to stand in one spot as the lead runner comes by, then wait until the street is jam packed with people running. Seeing the downtown streets with no cars and packed with people is pretty awe inspiring.
I am very proud of all my friends who did the race. I think it is a huge accomplishment to finish the race. While not everyone set a personal best, I think that each and everyone of them should be proud of their race.
My pics are here.
Deadlines Cheer
This week has been rather crazy. Work deadlines combined with getting ready for vacation combined with day to day life made for a busy week. A side effect was that I had no time for things like posting here.
This post should have been made last weekend.
Suede, coreman, justine, and others took part in the CIBC Run for the Cure. There was an amazing amount of people taking part, and it was good for me to get out with Yoshi to cheer everyone on.
After the race we had a few folks (and their kids) over for a brunch.
Good times, and great eats!
Steep Workout
Yesterday Suede, Yoshi, and I joined Justine, Oscar and Coreman on a dog walk at Matheson Lake in Metchosin. What a nice walk. The dogs enjoyed it immensely. Yoshi and Oscar ran the whole time we walked. The trail around the lake gets quite steep at times, so it gives the humans a good workout too!
After the walk Yoshi was one tired pup. He slept the rest of the day. The weather (as you can tell from the pictures) was pretty amazing. Warm and sunny. It is october, and I can still stand to wear shorts (not that I did on the walk)!
The rest of my pics are here.
Cordova Light
Wednesday the photo club met at Cordova Bay. As I was driving there I was thinking that the light was going to work out great. Then I crested a hil, and headed into the bay. The light was terrible! Ack, I was on the eastern side, not the western. What had I done!
Anyway, we made the best of it, took some pics, then headed out for a drink. Good times.
Lucky Mailing
Call it fortuitous, call it lucky. Call it good fortune. Call it what you will, but I have a new memory card. I was just thinking yesterday that I was going to have to find another card to take on our trip in a couple weeks. A few moments later I got an email from a photography mailing list I am on. Someone was selling a 512 MB compact flash card! Sweet! I was pretty happy with the price. I picked it up last night, and played with it for a bit. It sure looks odd to see 300+ pics available.
Of course today I was cruising the cruise website and found the following blurb: You will also find advanced digital imaging services, memory card downloads, and CD burning services.
Guess I didn’t need that card after all!
Civilized Weather
Yoshi’s walk on Sunday was a lot more relaxed than the day before. He was quite civilized, and got along nicely with all the dogs in the park. The sun was out, the breeze was light, the park was perfect.
Tonight Suede and I did something we haven’t done in a long time. After work, we got changed, let Yoshi into the truck, then went for an hour walk around Thetis Lake. Yoshi appreciated the run, and we relished the walk. Somehow we lucked into some really nice weather.
Little Photographer
Saturday was little e’s 3rd birthday party. Fun for kids of all ages. The adults watched while the children did crafts, played on e’s new fort, and ate cake. Actually, the adults joined in the cake eating too. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun, including the official birthday photographer.
Sushi Good
Friday night Suede and I decided to go out for dinner. Sushi at Azuma! It was very, very good. We had gyoza, tempura, tomago, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, a dynamite roll, a tempura cone, and an order of tuna tataki. Yuuummy. I have been to 3 sushi places in Victoria now, and I think Azuma is my favorite so far. The other 2 places are Yokohama, and Yoshi Sushi.
