Walkathon Playground

Yesterday was the annual BC SPCA Paws for a Cause Walkathon. We came a little late to the party and weren’t able to collect any pledges before the walkathon so we made our donation for the year. We walked with some friends and had a great time. We even stopped half way along the way for the boys, and the dogs, to have a little play on the beach.

At the end of the walk we checked out the booths and hung out for a bit.

When we were done at the walkathon we headed to a playground so the boys could burn off some steam, then Sox, Sprout and I had a wonderful lunch at the Beacon Drive in. Burger and Fries for me, and a Toasty Club Sandwich for Sox. Sprout enjoyed a few fries too.

I’ve looked forward to times like that for quite a while. Simple, plain family fun. Can’t wait for the next one!

Kicking Fish

In my last fish related post I mentioned that Stumpy had disappeared. He turned up a couple days later, but he didn’t make it. The big mean Barb is still kicking fin and is knocking off the other fish.

I don’t know what to do with this fish. I don’t want him any more since he is so aggressive. Any time I get more Tiger Barbs this guy chases them relentlessly until they die from exhaustion. Grr.

Before I went away on vacation the snail died too. I noticed it hadn’t moved in quite a few days, and when I bumped him with the net, the snails covering fell off and the shell was empty. Very weird. The snail had completely dissolved.

So, what to do with the tank? I want to restock the fish, but I’m afraid the barb will just end up killing them. Yesterday I headed out to Petsmart to get a few things and to get some advice. The lady there suggested that I give the barb away using UsedVictoria. Then get more fish once it is gone. I think I will give that a shot.

Once that fish is out of the way I can go on with stocking the tank with new and different fish.

Ottawa Processing

Pics from the Ottawa vacation. We did a lot while we were there. A farmers market, the cottage in Quebec, and then back to Ottawa where Sox and I were able to check out the Bywar Market. Its taken too long to get the pictures up, so I haven’t done any of the post processing that I was wanting to.

Vacation Return

Back from vacation now, and trying to get caught up on real life.

I got lucky when I went away, and never actually got the cold I could feel settling in.

Instead Sprout got a cold from his cousin while we were away, and gave that to me just in time for me to board a plane and return home. Now I am back at work trying to get caught up, and trying to kick a cold. Blech.

The vacation itself was awesome, and more on that later.
