Sue left today for 10 days of travelling. I am back to my bachelor roots 🙂 It is fun to do for a few days, but I miss her already. After I dropped her off at the airport Yoshi and I met up with Digger and KaptainK for a walk at Elk Lake. It was a fun walk and Yoshi ran LOTS. He has all sorts of pent up energy from his time spent nursing his injured paw. Finally he is allowed to run and run and run.

While we were out, the owner of the house we are renting had stopped by to install some doors on the fireplace. When Yoshi and I got home, before Yoshi had even stepped into the house, he knew something was up and started barking. It startled me since he doesn’t bark that often (usually when he thinks he hears a doorbell or a knock at the door). When I walked in the door I saw some tools and parts on the floor and figured that the owner had taken a break.

Me and Yoshi then went over to Krista’s to help her set up her new website. It isn’t ready yet, or I would have provided a link. We have to wait while the DNS changes get propogated, then we can finish the final setup.

Friday is here at last! I have a bunch of things I have to do this weekend, some more things I want to do, and a few things I don’t want to do.

Sue leaves on Saturday to head East to visit a friend in Montreal for a few days, then she will meet up with her sister and mom for a few days. She is gone for 10 days, and I know I am going to miss here a lot. Sue is taking my camera and I think it is going to be weird to be without it for that time period. I have grown accustomed to taking it everywhere.

Columbia Fuels is stopping by today to top up our tank. This means that Yoshi doesn’t get to spend any time outside this afternoon. Poor guy. Columbia Fuels has weird customer service.

I guess that is it for now. I just need to finish this day of work, and then the weekend can begin.

I am done with the dentist. I was lucky and all they did was a filling (no root canal). True to my thoughts though, I hated the experience. Now I sit here with a frozen face, and I feel gross. I am not allowed to eat anything solid for a few hours, but at least it was painless (for the most part)

As an aside my regular dentist is incapacitated right now. They think it is a herniated disc. Ouch. The fill in dentist was pretty nice and I think did a good job.

In other news I passed 95000 km’s on my truck today. In celebration I booked an appointment for its next servicing.

While on my way home from my appointment, I was driving along Esquimalt Road, and when I rounded the corner with the 30 km/h zone I saw a cop car parked in the middle of the 4 lane road. The officers were standing on either side of the car but weren’t stopping anyone. Weird.

T-Minus one hour forty one minutes and counting until my dentist appointment. I am not looking forward to it. Nothing worse than dreading going somewhere.

Maybe it won’t be as bad as I think, but I know it will.

Ooops, he did it again!

Last night sometime Yoshi got downstairs and ate the remaining cat food! That dawg. Again this morning his water dish was empty, and he wasn’t interested in his food. What to do? I think we may try putting the cats food on top of the freezer and keeping the bag inside a cupboard.

This morning Sue got up and put Yoshi outside. He ran to the dish outside and drank and drank and drank. Odd. He had water before we went to be last night. A little later she put his food out for him, and he didn’t touch it! Hmm, something is not right. Sue went downstairs and noticed the cats food dish was missing. Yoshi had eaten it all. Then she noticed that the 10 kg bag of cat food was missing a bunch of food!

It would appear Yoshi wandered downstairs and helped himself to some ocean fish and rice cat food! No wonder he was thirsty and not wanting his own food.

Yesterday while I was attempting to take a nap, Yoshi started barking and making a lot of noise. I assumed someone was at the door, but I never heard a knock or doorbell.

After the nap I got up and went down stairs. I saw a tag on the front door and realized it was the UPS dude. Dang I missed him! I retrieved the tag and sat on the couch. I then noticed that the tag said the package was left by the front door! Yay!

I ran to the door and sure enough hidden behind a flower pot was a small brown box. I tore into it (carefully), and extracted my shiny new Half Jacket XLJ’s from Oakley Canada. These are replacements for my broken Zeros which had been discontinued. Mmmmm, I love Oakleys. They are soo comfortable and have excellent optics. I am sure these will have a long lifetime with me.

I hate being sick. I have been cooped up at home since Tuesday and I hate it. Yeuck! My cold is improving though. I actually went to work for a couple hours today to finish off some stuff I had kicking around. We are close to a deadline, so I hated having some code checked out, ut not complete.

I am home again though to rest though. Almost time for a nap.

Yesterday I was poking around Future Shock and noticed they had an old Handspring Visor Deluxe for sale for $50! Sue had been talking about getting a PDA recently since her schedule has been so hectic. I thought this PDA would fit the bill perfectly. The downside was that this was an open box item. All that you got for the $50 was the PDA and snap cover. No cradle, software, or stylus.

The stylus and the software are easy to acquire. The cradle is a different story. I wandered up to Staples. What a find! They had a cradle that would work, and it was only $5. I snapped that up, rushed back to Future Shock and bought the PDA.

I was so proud of myself. I got home last night, dropped some batteries in, and was prepared to be amazed.

Amazed I was. The PDA didn’t work! The digitizer was messed up and wasn’t accepting any input at all. :grr:

I tired resetting it, I tried the hard reset. Nothing worked. In the end I had to return the PDA to Future Shock.

It took a long time to work my way through their system, but I insisted they give my money back, and not push me off to their 1-800 number. Anyway, I still need to return the cradle.

Happy Birthday to Yoshi! He turned 5 today. Thanks to Sue for reminding me.
